Jackie Blue Parrot Quaker Parakeet Clearwater, FL

Hi! My name is Jackie Blue, but my friends call me Jackie. I'm an 8-year-old blue Quaker with lots of personality! My hatch date is 1/20/2015 so I will be turning 9 years old soon!

I have been settling in well at my foster home and have become quite chatty! I have a few things I say often like, "Come here Jackie Blue" and " Hi Jackie". I also like to talk back and forth with my foster mom. Sometimes we'll even sing together if I like a song that comes on the radio.

Like most quakers, I can sometimes be a little difficult to get out of the cage because it is my safe place, but once I am out, I LOVE to hang out with my foster mom! One of my favorite places is on her head so I can play in her hair. She says I'm a fabulous hairdresser. My wings are currently clipped, but I can still fly pretty well just in a downward direction. I'll even fly from the kitchen to the home office (where my cage is) when I'm ready to go to bed. Even though I can't fly upwards I don't refrain from taking a couple laps around the room. After all, a girl needs her exercise!

In addition to getting in some exercise my foster mom has changed my food over to Zupreem fruit blend and chop. I also really like cucumbers, green beans, grapes and I really love apples! My previous owner used to mist me while I was in my cage, but my foster mom has gotten me used to taking real showers once a week. I haven't flapped my wings to help with my shower, but I do allow my foster mom to gently stretch my wings out to make sure I get good and showered, then it's off to an outside cage to dry in the sun (as long as it's 70 degrees or warmer). I do enjoy the pampering; I mean how else do you think I keep these feathers so beautiful and bright?!

An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird’s cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
