Meet Halo

Can you see the 'halo' above this little angel's head? I know we can! Halo is a female lesser sulpher-crested cockatoo who is 22 years old. This little girl does seem to prefer the humans who come with beards, but that doesn't mean that anyone who understands and wants to work with behavior couldn't form a connection with her. Halo is fully flighted (you have to be to have a halo, right?), and will not be adopted to any home that plans to clip her - she needs to be able to spread those wings, and she's good at it, too! At Cockatoo Ranch she has done pretty well with other birds, but has not specifically bonded to anyone, so she could be a good candidate for a home with another bird. The halo goes away and the little devil horns come out around small kids, however, so a household with young children would not be for her. She would do wonderfully with a family who has or is willing to put up an outdoor aviary, so she can really show you what those wings can do in those warmer months.

Halo will require a cage AT MINIMUM twice her wingspan (56"), but obviously the bigger the better. An 80x40 would suit her well. And again, bonus points if you also have an outdoor aviary.

$200 of Halo's adoption fee will go to enrolling her new family in Level One and The Parrot Project at The Animal Behavior Center to provide plenty of online support and educated guidance.

***If you're interested in Halo please fill out an application at
http://heartcockatooranch.org, and provide a home video of the main areas she'll be living. Videos can be sent through Cockatoo Ranch on Facebook messenger, or to cockatooranch@yahoo.com. Video must show other birds in the home if there are any, the cage if you have one, and the general living area where the bird will be. We're not judging any laundry on the couch or dishes in the sink - we swear! We just want to get a sense of a potential new home and ensure it's set up for success***
