We are working on a project to spay and nueter as many kitties as we can. There are a lot of owners who cant afford the high prices the vets charge, so we are collecting donations to help others in need. Our current project is trapping a colony of feral cats at a local barn and getting the all fixed and vaccinated. Please use the tool above to make your donations.
YCR is in desperate need of foster homes. We have several kittens coming to rescue, with no place to go. Foster homes provide a safe & nuturing, temporary home for cats and kittens that we rescue from shelters, abuse cases, abandonment, and owner surrenders. Before coming into your home, all cats are FIV/FELV tested. To safeguard your own pets and the incoming foster's health we require that they be quarantined for two weeks. YCR reimburses you for any vetting expenses monthly. What YCR does not reimburse are the cost of litter and food used to keep them healthy. Fosters play a key role in rescue by giving them that safe place until a wonderful home can be found. Foster homes have just as much say in the forever home as do YCR.. We keep you very much informed with everything that is happening with your foster animals. If we didnt have foster homes, we wouldnt be able to save any animals....
OUR FEATURED PET
EVE
Eve is a 4 year old, tuxedo female. She has been through a very lot in her short life and has fully recouperated from a sloppy spay surgery and is looking for her very own home. She is super friendly and will fall asleep on your lap. She also LOVES to play with catnip toys!! She could entertain herself for hours with toys and catnip!! She is great with other cats, dogs and does well with kids. She is very laid back and adjusts very quickly to new things. She does have one habit.. If you are laying in bed she likes to snuggle by your head and clean your hair (lick). She also LOVES kids and is one of the favorites with my 3 year old. Please consider giving this stong willed (to survive) kitty her very own home. Eve is spay, tested neg for FIV/FELV, current on shots and dewormed.
News
Yankee Cat Rescue is excited to start its own cat rescue!! A cat rescue has been in the works for a long time and it has finally put it into place. I am originally from MA (hence the name Yankee) and moved to FL, where I have seen to many adoptable cats be euthanized every day. This problem of over population is never going to end, but if we can adopt out just one cat, think of the difference we have made for that animal. Since becoming an official rescue in May 2003, YCR has successfully placed over 150 cats and kittens in excellent homes. Thanks to all the wonderful families, who made room in their lives, for these deserving kitties! They are all very lucky!!

Who We Are
Yankee Cat Rescue is a no-kill, all volunteer organization. It was established to provide temporary shelter and care for cats, with the ultimate goal of finding permanent homes for each cat. YCR pulls cats from the local animal shelter before their time is up to be euthanized. We always welcome help from anyone interested in the preservation and rescue of felines. Please contact us if you have time to share or a willingness to provide a cat with temporary residence until a permanent adoption can take place. We also gratefully accept donations of food, blankets, toys and kitty litter.
Adopting a friend
All potential adoptors are required to fill out an information sheet. We will then do a vet reference check and home study/interview and make arrangements to meet the cat you are interested in adopting. Upon approval you will be ready to welcome your new cat into your family! Please email YCR if you are interested in a cat and we can email you a sheet for your review. This is not intended to deny anyone, but to find the best possible match for you and the pet. All animals are up to date on shots, altered and in some cases, microchipped. The adoption fee is $65 for all cats. The adoption fee for dogs is $80.
Come Visit Us!
