We are dedicated to the rescue of dogs from crowded
urban shelters and rural Southern shelters. Once these dogs have
been saved from death row - we are usually LAST resort for them - and have
been brought to our foster homes -often by long distance transport, we
offer them a home, TLC, vet care if needed, and will introduce them to
potential adopters via the internet.
All our foster dogs
are available for adoption. The adoption process starts with an Online
Adoption Application. Careful
screening and matching is the next step. There is a dog for every person, but
not every dog is the best match for a particular person. Many factors
are weighed. While we will always take our dogs back should this become
necessary later, we aim at the best possible match so this will not
become necessary.
Adoption
Ground Rules
Potential adopters who
are felt to be a good match are invited to visit the dog *,
spend as much
time as they want, and decide either then or later whether this is the
dog they want to adopt and share their lives with for many years to come.
This meeting - without
obligation - takes place in the foster home. We do not transport dogs
to adoptive homes or meet a potential adopter "half way". The adopter
will need to sign a contract and agree to always return the dog to us if
the adopter can no longer keep the dog.
Contact is initially
only via email: rescueadopt@gmail.com.
We provide as much
information as possible about an individual dog, the good and what needs
"work". Most often we do not
have any "background" because the dog was a nameless stray. However after observing their interactions in the foster home for a few
weeks, we usually have a good impression of personality and temperament.
And
will use that information to find a good match.
* We
do not have a shelter or a kennel. All dogs are fostered in private
homes. They can be seen by appointment only.
