READ MORE ABOUT OSCAR

Oscar is a stunning 3 year old Aussiedoodle boy who somehow ended up a stray and eventually at a SoCal kill shelter. Thankfully, our amazing peeps in the Golden State, alerted us to poor Oscar's predicament and we were able to spring the poor guy from captivity and get him into a wonderful foster home. Of course, given his unusual coloring and markings, his non-shed coat and his one, ice-blue eye, the shelter had Oscar erroneously labeled as every breed mix under the sun, We suspected he was something other than what they were telling us.

A little post jailbreak research, revealed quite a bit to us as far as poor Oscar's history. Old micro-chip info revealed that his name is indeed Oscar, he is 3 years old, his former owner had been elderly and did not respond to multiple alert messages from either animal control or the microchip company. It also revealed Oscar is not a Terrier mix, a Husky mix, nor is he an Old English Sheepdog mix. ( we laughed out loud at that one) He is indeed an Australian Shepherd/ Poodle mixed dog and he is a DELIGHT.

Oscar is a perfect little gentleman. He has an exceptional, laid back, easy going personality and temperament. His foster momma confessed that she is smitten and reports:

"Oscar is such a sweetheart and has adjusted beautifully to our home and routine. He is really a stunning boy. He is a great size being 38 lbs. He could stand to gain a few and probably will be between 40-45 lbs. maximum. We are working on that. He has beautiful markings and coloring and those eyes are truly mesmerizing. One is light blue, the other is marbled brown. And there is such intelligence and soulfulness behind them."

"It is obvious that he was a loved dog. Someone took good care of him at some point as he is in pretty good shape considering his hard luck. He is very laid back, exceptionally friendly, sweet, loving, well-mannered little man. Not a mean bone in his body. He is completely housebroken, knows a few basic commands, but could use a little practice with his leash manners. He is so smart and eager to please, he is learning quickly and proving to be an exceptional pupil. He did try to chase my kitties when he first arrived here. But he's gotten past it. He gets along well with my dogs but is really more interested in people. My sense is that he would probably love to be the only baby in the house. Oscar really is a very special boy and he is going to be a wonderful companion for some lucky person or family."

Oscar is completely house-trained, needs some practice with his leash manners and knows some basic commands, He will need an active, dog-savvy family, a calm, laid back home environment where someone is around for a large part of the day. He will also need a fenced in yard and would love to be the only dog in the home. He isneutered, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and will be a wonderful companion for the right person or family.

DRC ADOPTION POLICIES

DRC Inc. has adoption requirements and policies in place to ensure the safety, well-being and appropriate home placement of every doodle dog in our program.
Adorable as they may be and in spite of the hype, doodles ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE! They are highly intelligent, active, emotional, high maintenance dogs that require special attention, care and the serious commitment of an experienced dog owner.

Consequently, DRC does not typically adopt to first time dog owners, families with children under 10 years of age or those not experienced with the needs of large sporting dogs that have extensive grooming and exercise requirements.

Please read through our policies and be certain that your home environment and lifestyle are both compatible with, and appropriate for a doodle BEFORE you apply.

In many and most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle.

DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $250 - $500 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility. NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants, before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
