Meet Serena
Please give a warm welcome to Serena. Serena is a deaf double dapple dachshund. She was used for breeding the first 2 years of her life and then abandoned in the backyard when her owners moved away. She was then saved by a lady whose roommate abused her because of her barking. The lady then decided to surrender her to the shelter for her own safety. Just because her hearing is impaired it does not slow her down one bit.
Serena attaches very quickly to her human. She is 100% house trained and can be trusted in the house all day without accidents. Serena would like a home where her owner lets her snuggle in bed next to her while she sleeps. She will bark if left in a kennel so she has had free roam at her foster home.
Serena is nervous when you first meet her and takes time to warm up to you. After everything she has been through this does not surprise us. Her foster mom has had zero issues with her in the house but does notice that she gets nervous when taken out in public. Because of her nervous personality we do recommend that she goes to a home with no small children. At home Serena loves playing with her toys and snuggling with her foster mom:) Serena would like a home with no large dogs.
Serena is 2.5 years old and weighs 9 pounds.
From Serena:)
Here are 10 things I would like you to know about me if you are considering being my new mom or dad.
#1 - I would prefer a home with no children.
#2 - I would prefer a home with dogs under 12 pounds.
#3 - I love snuggling on the couch or in bed.
#4 - I require a bed to sleep in at night, not a kennel. (Actually, I am 100% house trained so I don't even need a kennel)
#5 - I would like a home with a submissive small dog but also one that like to play.
#6 - I love to sit out in the sun but I need you to protect me and monitor my time outside due to my light skin.
#7 - I would like a home with no cats unless you don't mind me chasing them. (Remember, I can't hear you calling my name if I start chasing the cat)
#8 - I would like a home that takes me on car rides but understands that I just like being in the car, not out in public meeting other dogs and humans.
#9 - I love being on a grain free diet.
#10 - The most important one!! I would love to find a mom or dad that has patience. Once I have your trust I will be the most dependable dog on earth that showers you in love 24/7.
#11 - I would not do well in an apartment due to my barking.
You will see pictures that show I can be friendly with strangers at "my home", loving car rides, love being under the comforter at night. I am pretty much a very happy girl with some insecurities.
