Walter Rescue pulled Harriet (the Spy, of course) from the shelter with her two kittens. Harriet was very scared, very sick with an upper respiratory infection, and very protective of her boys. She's now healthy, been fixed, gotten her shots, and her kittens have been adopted. She's been fostered in a patient home environment and has really come out of her shell. We know she was someone's pet once, from the collar marks around her neck, but don't know how she and her kittens ended up at the shelter.

It took her some time to learn to trust, but Harriet's foster mom has never seen such a complete transformation in a cat before. Harriet has learned to be a confident, silly, adored cat. She follows her foster mom around, waits for her at the door, weaves around her ankles, meows for attention, and loves to be petted. She's trusting enough of her foster mom enough to sit on her lap and be petted and gives lots of purrs in return!

Harriet's been through a lot, but she has so much love to give. She loves string toys, ear scritches, little bites of provolone, and sitting in boxes. She does well with other cats who are not aggressive towards her. Because she can still hiss and swat when frightened, I don't think she'd be a good fit for a home with young children, but older kids who know how to read her signals her should be fine.

Here is a testimonial from her foster's (soon to be) stepmother, who watched Harriet over Christmas: "I had the pleasure of taking care of Harriet over the holidays for my fiancee's daughter. I love cats and he doesn't, so I thought it might be a somewhat difficult experience.

I knew he wasn't thrilled about the idea and thought he would be constantly complaining about her. I was in for a pleasant surprise. Harriet is a very loving cat. She was my shadow for the time she was with us and I really miss her. I secretly think Frank does too but would never admit it . It was so nice to be greeted at the door when I got home each day. She was very playful and amusing. Even though she didn't trust me at first it did not stop her from wanting my company. She also did not shy away when we had company and was our official holiday greeter. She loves attention but is not needy. She is playful but not destructive, and she just needs a good home. I would adopt her in a second but my fiancée would not like the competition. He did enjoy her because he knew she was only staying for a short time - Just like the grandchildren!"

Harriet is about two years old and a wonderful cat with so much personality, and lots of "cattitude". She deserves a chance to be loved and adored in her forever home.

She has been spayed and is up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $70.
