Frankenweenie came to us from another shelter where he was turned in as a found dog. At the shelter it was discovered that he had a fractured rear leg. We will follow the vet recommendations as to the treatment for his leg, and then he will be available for adoption. He seems to be a very nice little guy. He deserves a great home where he will always get all the love and care he needs! Update 10/9: It was determined that Frank's leg break was at least a month old, and his leg couldn't be saved. It was amputated and he will be feeling better very soon. UPDATE 10/24 from his foster home: Frankenweenie, A.K.A. Frankie, is doing great since the amputation of his back leg and received a clean bill of health from the vet. We don’t think he realizes that he is a three legged dog by the way he acts. He loves to go for walks, is glad to see you when you come home and he has very good manners. He will sit by the door when he wants to go outside, but its not always to do his job sometimes he just wants to play outside. He knows “sit”, “no” and “come”. Frankie loves belly rubs and to snuggle on anyone's lap. We are starting to let him do stairs and race around a little, we want to go slow so that the other leg has time to get use to carrying all his weight, but it’s not easy to keep this good man down. He is being fostered by his human mom & dad and 2 teenage boys along with a 4 year old Springer Spaniel and a 3 year old Bichon. Frankie gets along with everyone in the house, if he isn’t on a lap he likes to be by the Bichon. And if the springer gets over excited during play Frankie will take cover under an end table or go in his bedroom (cage). We don’t know how he is with little children since we don’t have any. We keep the door open to his bedroom and he will go in and out during the day, its his safe place. We do lock him in the cage when no one is home, but he probably doesn’t need to be. He is such a lover that would make some a great addition to the right family. Adoption Procedures: 1. Completely fill out the pre-adoption application. We will be checking with your vet if you have had pets, calling your landlord (if any) and checking a personal reference, before we contact you about visiting the adoptables. Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2. If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in. 3. If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her. In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day. If all the vetting hasn't been done yet, we will hold the pet for you until the vet work is completed. 4. If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application. You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time. Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us! The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $125 - $425 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax. Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventative, microchipped, and dewormed. Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections. To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you will also receive an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training for a reduced fee of $50 (up to $190 value). You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, Small Dogs Big Hearts, or Shy & Reactive Dog Class. You must start the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.
