Meet Resee

Thank you for helping contribute to Reese's vet bills: Connie in Manitowoc, Ann in Madison. Baby Resee had surgery on her deformed leg. Her medical bill is $1,500. We are in great need of donations to help pay her bill. Any amount is appreciated. To donate, go to the Fluffy Dog Rescue home page and click on the DONATE button. Thank you for helping!

MY AGE: 9/17 8 months WEIGHT: 7/2 approx. 30lbs, 40-50 lbs. adult weight WHERE I AM FROM: AL MY STORY: Resee is a doll, those beautiful, soulful eyes. She's racing around the backyard feeling sorry for all those other dogs that have to carry that extra leg - when 3 are perfectly fine. Her incision is barely visible, you have to look at her a minute to realize, yes- she is missing a front leg. She is a smart gal, and within the hour had mastered going up and down stairs. The first couple times weren't pretty, nor were they graceful, but within no time she was handling it with ease. She has a sweet personality and although she had only known me a short time, curled up at my feet and took a nap. Resee wrestles with the big boys and enjoys every minute of it. Resee is chocked full of puppy energy. For this little girl has endured and the long trip North, she is very outgoing and relaxed. If you have the energy and the patience for a puppy, please consider Resee. She is going to be a lot of fun! UPDATE from her foster mom....

While Resee has plenty of energy and it needs to be addressed and directed (witness my huge holes in the yard from my own lack of paying attention to her), I really think that once she outgrows all her puppy crazies, she is really a very mellow dog. She can be stubborn to try and get what she wants (which I'm told is a lab thing), she is very responsive; loves attention from people or dogs and just loves life. She loves to go on walks but will stop when she wants to, it uses up a lot of energy for her to keep up with the other dogs, but the morning walks are my way of keeping my yard from looking like London during WWII. She just needs some way to burn off the energy that i think is more puppy energy than dog type. (It also might be encouraged by the other dogs, which is not entirely her fault and doesn't help the issues)! While she can get excited, the 3 yr old lab that lives next to me seems much more "high-energy" than Resee, so maybe the coonhound in her allows her to want to sit back and watch the world go by! It's very hard to tell what they will be like when they grow up but having her and Shona here - I would say she is less active than Shona, but loves to jump in a play and never turns down a opportunity to join the fun.

She is very content to sit outside and watch things, absolutely LOVES her pool and seems more inclined to sit outside rather than in - but she hasn't experienced winter yet so I'm sure that will change. She is still a little stand-offish at times to some people which is understandable as she is still a puppy and getting used to everyone and everything. Once she realizes she has met a friend she is ready to jump into your lap for love and attention

All in all, I think Resee is a sweet, loveable dog that will fit nicely into a family that can give her enough exercise to keep her happy and work out her boredoms!

If you are interested in a puppy, PLEASE NOTE to ensure successful training and socialization of a puppy, they need frequent potty breaks. playtime and exercise through out the day for many months. This dog does shed and is not hypoallergenic. To see more pictures click on the following link Fluffy Fostering

HERE IS RESEE'S AMAZING ANIMAL LOVE STORY: Resee was born as one of four in an unplanned, unwanted litter. Animals are born in our rural AL county as well all over our state because there are no mandated spay/neuter laws here and due to lack of education about pet overpopulation. Even if there were laws on the books, it would be difficult to enforce them because of funding. It is the way of the south. I know because I've lived here all my life. Recently on a late spring afternoon, as the local Humane Society was about to close, an older gentleman brought in four beautiful and very healthy mixed breed puppies. He surrendered three of them to the shelter, hoping the organization would be able to find them homes. He, like most people in our community, knew nothing about the beauty and resourcefulness of animal rescue. The fourth one, now named Resee, he carried out the front door tucked lovingly in his arm. Why only Resee? This is why. She was born with a deformity called the lobster claw. He thought if he left Resee at the shelter she would be put to sleep because no one would want a crippled puppy for a pet. As he was walking through the parking lot to get into his vehicle, my rescue friend, Norean, saw he was carrying the precious baby in his arms. Immediately she noticed Resee's deformed leg and inquired about her future. As most of you know, when animal rescuers see a need, the valves of love start turning in their hearts. The kind gentleman said he couldn't leave her with her siblings knowing her probable fate. He even mentioned to Norean that a local vet wanted $35 just to see her - $35 he didn't have. Her future? Well, he would do the best he could to care for her. Because the lobster claw leg was shorter than the other three, she was unable to walk and a lot of her time was spent scooting around on the ground causing her to have sores on her tummy. What do you think happened next? Norean asked Resee's owner if she could take the baby to see a veterinarian for evaluation and care. The answer was "yes". My friend assured the gentleman she would find Resee a rescue or forever home. He was overjoyed and after a thank you, he drove away. The rescue love story began. The next day Resee was on her way to the doctor who diagnosed her medical condition and gave Norean the options. Euthanasia or amputation. What did she say? You know the answer to that for sure! :) After a long surgery and three week recovery at Norean's, Resee would be ready to go to rescue or be adopted. What should we do? We didn't have to even think for a second who we would ask to take in our beautiful girl. I emailed the question and Lori Marcheck answered simply - "yes".

ADOPTION FEE: $370 includes tax .

*The FIRST step is the application. Make sure before filling out an application that you have seriously considered adoption and have talked it over with all family members. Our approval process takes about a week and we expect that you adopt after that as we do not hold dogs. We also do not "sell" dogs. There is an approval process that applicants must go through prior to meeting the dogs. A * next to the dog's name means we are working with an applicant. The * will be removed should the dog become available.

*Applications are available on our homepage. Fluffy Dog Rescue

*We do not adopt to families with children under the age of six and must stick to this policy, as it is part of our insurance policy.

*We also only adopt in WI & IL. At times we are able to work with people in the Minneapolis area.

*Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now. We do not hold dogs or keep applications should a dog fit your needs in the future.

*Our dogs are located in foster homes throughout the state. We do not have a facility and you must be approved prior to meeting a dog.

*Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
