And now a few words from Hollie :
My name is Hollie, and until recently I lived in a not-so-great place. Over my 11 years of life I have had many litters of puppies. As each puppy left, there I remained waiting for the next litter to be born and hoping beyond hope that some day it would be my turn to have a family of my own to love me unconditionally, comfort me when I was scared, encourage me when I was unsure, and tell me that everything was going to be alright. Year after year I waited, and then finally one day my prayers were answered and someone came to rescue me. I drove away from the only 'home' that I knew and I never looked back. After a long drive I crossed the border into Canada and I was free; free from endless litters of puppies, and free to live the life that I have wanted for so many years.
And now a few words from Hollie's foster mom :
Hollie is one of the kindest, most resilient little dogs I have had the pleasure to meet. We are honoured that she chose us to foster her and to get to spend some time with her while she waits for her forever family to come along. Hollie has never been someone's pet, and has never known human love, and now that she has the chance to have a family and live in a real home she is never going to look back at her old life.
Hollie is a friendly, sweet, gentle and affectionate little dog who wants nothing more than to climb into your lap and be hugged. She spends most of her days snoozing away on a nearby dog bed, couch or chair, and enjoys cuddling with the resident cats. She is a little nervous of our large dog, but is settling in well and has met a number of small dogs that she has befriended. Because Hollie has not learned how to be a proper dog until now, house training and manners are a work-in-progress and, given her age, it will likely take a while before she is consistent in this respect. A home that could provide Hollie with a routine where she could go outside every few hours and where she could be taught boundaries would be ideal. She is making great progress, though, and is very smart. Leash-walking was a brand new concept a few weeks ago but now she walks like a pro and rarely has to be carried. Truth be told she'd much rather sleep, but is happy to sniff around outside and check out the world, too. She prefers short walks and quiet outdoor time, and is definitely a low-key, low-energy girl. She loves toys that squeak and will play with her stuffed bunny for hours on end, but ultimately she would prefer a quiet home where she can lounge around and keep her humans company.

While Hollie gets along well with most dogs and is living with a dog at present, only a home with no other pets or very friendly, non-aggressive pets will be considered . Hollie has had to defend herself and her babies against other dogs, and if pushed around and intimidated she will defend herself against another animal that is threatening her. She has had a few disagreements with our rather large dog over the weeks and Hollie is not a girl to back down. Another dog or cat that picked on Hollie or tried to bully her would not be suitable. Hollie gets along very well with our cats and we have had no issues even when our cats play fight with her, but they are also very friendly and easy-going. Our dog can get grumpy with Hollie when she gets in his space or startles him, and this is usually when issues occur. We are there to diffuse the situation and no one has been hurt in the scuffle, but this is something that should be watched in the future in terms of supervision around other animals. If a dog picked a fight with Hollie she would definitely hold her own, and though our dog is friendly with her 90% of the time, the remaining 10% would cause me concern in terms of leaving them unsupervised together. Because of Hollie's need for consistency and the status of her house training, a home where someone was home full-time or most of the day is preferred so that they can continue Hollie's "training" and provide her with oodles of endless attention and cuddles. Hollie would not be happy being alone for long working hours, and is currently rarely, if ever, alone. When you go out, a safe, baby-gated area would be ideal. Hollie is not destructive at all but will get into things left within her reach and is very food motivated.   Hollie's new family will need to be very patient and gentle with her. Just a few weeks out of a breeding facility, the world can be a scary, big place that she needs help navigating. Someone who ican spend time consistently praising and encouraging her, and never scolding, would be wonderful. Hollie deserves an amazing future after all that she has been through, and we promise that you will not be disappointed if you let this sweet, caring soul into your life. When those big brown eyes stare up at you and she puts her tiny paw on your knee, your heart will grow considerably and you will want to scoop her up into your arms and carry her off to a better life.   Applications for Hollie can be submitted online through the LOYAL Rescue website - www.loyalrescue.com, and you can contact her former foster mom through her blog at www.digbyandsassy.net for more information. Thank you for thinking of Hollie when it came time to add to your family! We are happy to entertain meet-and-greets with Hollie because we believe you would fall in love instantly, but do require, at a bare minimum, that an application be submitted to determine whether or not Hollie could be a suitable addition to your family.
