And now a few words from Maxie :

Well hello y'all, nice to meet you! My name is Maxie and I hail from the state of unbridled spirit - Kentucky! My foster mom says that that's exactly what I have - unbridled spirit. I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds like a good thing! See, I had a family most of my life, but last year I found myself living in a shelter with a lot of other dogs - most larger than me. A new family came and took me home, but then someone got sick and couldn't take care of me any longer, so I ended up back in the shelter again. Luckily my foster parents heard about me and decided to bring me to Ontario. The drive was long but I met a lot of nice people along the way and got to ride on a lot of laps, and now I'm a Canadian citizen, eh! My foster parents say I'm as sweet as peach cobbler (yum!) and quite the southern lady. Now I'm looking for my real forever family to come along and find me. I knew they were out there somewhere, I just didn't realize I'd have to travel all the way to Canada to find them!

And now a few words from Maxie's foster mom:

How anyone could give up sweet, gentle Maxie is beyond me. This is one of the loveliest little dogs I've had the pleasure to meet, and anyone else who meets Maxie agrees.

Maxie is quiet and polite, and would happily spend the day snoozing away next to you on the couch or cuddled on your lap. Give her a toy or a dog to play with, though, and this spunky senior turns into a playful puppy, tearing around the apartment and involving everyone in her fun and games. She is the perfect mix of quiet soul and sassy energy. She loves the company of other dogs - especially if they'll play with her! - and thinks cats are great for cuddling with. So far she hasn't met a person she doesn't want to run up and say hello to. If you scratch her under the chin she'll be your best friend for life, and if you give her a little treat she might just fall head of heels in love! Maxie would do fine with children who were respectful of her small size and her age; kids 10+ are recommended, but of course we would consider homes with children on a case-by-case basis.

Maxie is a healthy, happy, outgoing senior (who turns 11 years young on April 25). She would do well in a house or an apartment as she is trustworthy when left alone and does not bark. She is 99.9% house-trained but may have the occasional little accident when left alone. With regular trips outside and a consistent schedule these accidents should disappear. She loves walks and car rides, and will do a sweet little song (oh yes, she sings!) and dance when the leash comes out.

If you're looking for an adorable, happy, friendly Southern belle to add to your family, Maxie is your lady!
