Meet Rowena
I am an extremely active and playful female kitten. Although I do enjoy being around people, I am a lot more interested in playing and exploring than being held or cuddled. If you are looking for a really energetic kitty who will explore every inch of your home and enjoy playing with you, I am your perfect match!
For the past several weeks I have been in foster care with my siblings (Fortunato, Lenore, Montresor and Roderick) and two other kittens from two different litters (Rainey and Tiger). My foster family has four cats, two large female dogs, my foster mom and dad and their two daughters (ages 8 and 10). We all had a lot of fun playing with (and climbing on) the dogs and we have really enjoyed getting to know the human members of our foster family.
Unlike my siblings, I see humans more as big toys or playgrounds than as sources of affection. Although I will briefly tolerate being pet or picked up, I’m usually too busy to sit still and receive affection. I also play pretty rough, and will jump on legs or attack hands, arms and hair. It is not that I am a mean kitten; I just get really excited about playing and have not yet learned to treat humans gently. I play with them exactly the way I play with my siblings, which involves lots of biting and scratching. Because I am not gentle, I would probably not do well in a home with children or people who will be upset by my sometimes aggressive play style. But I will probably do really well with someone who wants a kitty who will always be ready to play, and who will enjoy being around them, if not being held. With love and positive reinforcement (and age), I will probably eventually calm down somewhat, but I may always prefer playing to cuddling. I would love to be adopted with one of my foster siblings (especially Lenore) and I will probably do best in a home with patient adults (no children) and with other animals I can play with. Please come meet me today so we can get to know one another and see if I am a good candidate to be the newest member of your forever home!
