Amazing Zeb Chesapeake Bay Retriever Alpharetta, GA

Amazing Zeb must have had angels watching over him even before he was rescued by AAU! When Angels Among Us saved him from Animal Control, Zeb’s prognosis was grim. Zeb is a 7 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. As a result of mal-nutrition and being left outside to endure the elements, Zeb was a hot mess when we found him. His fur was falling out, his eyes were matted almost shut, his elbows were covered in thick calices and Zeb struggled to breath and to walk. He was high heartworm positive, blind and suffering terribly from arthritis pain. He must have been so afraid after being dumped by his owners in a strange place. Zeb was found wondering the city streets, blind, sick and completely alone. He picked up by Animal Control and his owners were located, but they refused to come and get him from the shelter. The kind shelter workers couldn’t let this be the end of Zeb’s story, so they called AAU. Angels rescued Zeb, treated his heartworms and gave him time to recover from his years of neglect. He has been in foster care for 4 months, and his progress has been staggering! Zeb’s arthritis pain is managed with inexpensive medication. His coat is growing back, softer and healthier than before. He lives in a home with 4 dogs and 2 cats who he gets along with beautifully. While humans have not treated him kindly, Zeb is a gently giant who loves all people including small children. Being blind doesn’t bother Zeb. He is a laidback gentleman who maneuvers stairs, loves car rides, leisurely strolls/walks, going to festivals and is even happy to go to the vet! He is TOTALLY house broken, and just like a seeing-dog can be let outside to go do his business without assistance. Zeb lives to lay his head in your lap at night. When you pet him, he closes his eyes smiles. ? Zeb’s health continues to improve every day. He is a very low-maintenance dog and will do well in most any environment. Amazing Zeb deserves a loving home and a family of his own. Can you be his hero?
