Luther 2010 Old English Sheepdog & Great Pyrenees Mix Bloomington, IL

UPDATED....Luther is a 6-7 year old Old English Sheepdog/Great Pyrenees mix. He was trimmed down upon arriving to our program in a very matted condition matted. His coat is growing out quickly and will be long like an Old English if allowed to grow out completely. Luther is such a sweetheart. He is a people dog. Loves everyone. He is good with other dogs and seems to be fine with cats. He appears to be house broken as he has never pottied when inside. He is very intelligent and has some traits of both breeds but is predominantly Old English Sheepdog in personality. Luther weighs 85 pounds, and should not be allowed to become overweight as X-rays have shown that Luther has cartilage erosion in both hips. He has been treated with glucosomine injections and is on a daily supplement to try to repair or at least improve the cartilage. He is also on on supplements and and some mild pain meds in case of any discomfort. His meds are relatively inexpensive. He may always need those for improvement in his joint health and to keep him comfortable but Luther has really never shown much, if any, discomfort. He runs, jumps, bounces,and is as silly and active as a youngster. Luther will be placed as an inside companion and a fenced yard will be required. This boy is such a gem and really needs to be out of the kennels and in a home to be happy.
