Meet Tucker
Tucker is a young, mid-sized neutered black pitbull. He is very resilient, adjusting well to new situations, environments, and a variety of people. He is very affectionate and enjoys meeting new people. He is completely non-aggressive towards people, even if his favorite toy is removed from his mouth. He responds very well to consistent guidance from people, because he is very interested in doing the right thing. For the most part, he responds very well to verbal commands, including sit, stay, and come. He is also receptive to basic variations of the leave it command.
He walks well on a leash, with only occasional minimal pulling.
Tucker has been through several weeks of intensive training and interaction & have been doing amazingly. He adores people & seems to do very well with female dogs. He is doesn't do as well sometimes with certain male dogs, but this seems limited to male dogs who engage in resource-guarding behaviors (dogs who protect a person, place, or thing).
Tucker's immediate reaction to meeting another male is to mount (which can lead to a fight if the mountee has a dominant personality). As more minutes pass, his desire to dominate seems to lessen.
Tucker loves to play on his spring-pole for about 20 minutes at a time. He makes happy whiney and growly sounds while doing this. It is excellent exercise for him and (if done daily) will help reduce further incidents of dog-aggression.
Tucker would do best in a home with people who have some level of breed experience, OR who are willing and able to learn what it takes to provide a permanent home for the type of dog who is full of life.
