FOSTER HOME OR RESCUE NEEDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE READ THE STORY BELOW ABOUT A DOG IN LEAVENWORTH WHO DESPERATELY NEEDS A HOME TO LOVE AND CARE FOR HER DURING HER REMAINING YEARS. SHE WILL BE A VERY LOW MAINTENANCE PET...THE COST OF HER MEDICATIONS WILL BE SPONSORED. SHE JUST WANTS A WARM, PLACE WITH KIND PEOPLE AND A LOT OF TLC

"I was driving yesterday, and saw this old dog limping wandering around. So of course the chase was on. Followed her in the car and finally caught her. She had on several years of city tags, even a worn down rabies tag. I could not make out the # so I brought her up to the vets office. The great part was is they knew who she was. This is her story.........

Smokey is a pointer, she is 14 years old. At one point in her life, she was a truly loved pet. Her owner was put in to a nursing home, where he later passed away. He had Smokey since she was a pup. Smokey was very well cared for and very loved by this man. The apartment where this gentleman used to live is owned by a management group. They decided to take Smokey and try to find her a new home. They really have not been looking at all. None of the people that work for this place will take her in.
She is now forced to live in their warehouse. They close at 5:pm and re-open at 8:00am Smokey is forced to stay alone. What saddened me the most is that while there are several people in the office all day, poor Smokey still stays in the warehouse. I was told by the owner of the place that sometimes she pees on the floor, that's why she is out there. He even told me that it was a hassle for him to have to come in on Saturday and Sunday just to let her out and feed her.

I asked him if I screened people to adopt her, would they like to be involved in the process, after all they have had her there for more than 6 months. His reply was a very quick NO. As long as you can get her out of here, that's fine with me.

Smokey also has to be on medication, which they are not giving her. She has arthritis in her front shoulder. The last time they got her meds was in December, and that was only 10 pills. I have been in close contact with the vets office, and we are working some thing out. Smokey is coming due for her vacs. I am going to make sure that gets done this week. She is already spayed. She is truly a gentle old soul.

Although one of the girls at the mgmt. place told me that she is cranky, I really don't know anything about Smokey, but if I were a 14 year old dog, living in a cold warehouse i might be irritable too. She was very sweet with me, tail just a waggin."
