Meet Cox - LOCAL! (LR)

Adoption coordinator: paws.jenn@gmail.com

Cox is a sweet, handsome, 6 year old brindle pitbull mix who has a lot of love to give! He is full of cuddles and kisses and one of the most affectionate dogs his foster mom has ever met. He gets along great with her cat. In fact they lay out on the porch together enjoying the day. He also gets along well with her other dogs. He is generally submissive and when he encounters a more aggressive dog, he appears to be the one who usually backs down. Cox has been very gentle and sweet with all the children he has met. Cox is extremely good on the leash, and is very attentive to basic obedience commands.
Cox looks forward to his walks and hikes in the woods, and loves riding in the car. In fact, he'll throw himself against the back of his foster mom's locked car any chance he gets in an attempt to get in so he can go for a ride or to drive to the woods.

It is hard to believe that Cox has been up for adoption for 3 long years. Through no fault of his own! He was living in Tennessee where there are too many pitbulls, too many dogs, and not enough people interested in adopting them.

Since being found on the streets of Memphis, Cox has been treated successfully for the type of noncontagious mange that abandoned dogs tend to get. As you can see, he’s now sporting a thick brindled brown coat. He’s a loyal boy and will reward his family with the attention and companionship that members of the pit bull breed are famous for!

Cox can be a bit shy when he meets people, but once he’s had a few minutes to open up, he’s all wiggles and kisses. Cox currently enjoys leisurely walks in the woods and just laying on his dog bed eating a bone.

Cox is the poster boy for the damage that bad press can do for good dogs. Cox is one of the thousands of pits bulls who have been abandoned and later found on the street, sick and scared. Cox has been waiting for three long years to be adopted by a family who will give him the room to play and the comfort that every dog deserves.

Have a look at his video below. Cox is a honey bear from the tip of his tongue to the tips of his white toes. He’s been waiting patiently. It’s time he found a loving home.

If you are interested in adopting or would like more information about PAWS NE, please check our website:

www.pawsnewengland.com/adoption-form

The adoption donation is $400. This covers all pre-adoption vet costs (vaccinations, spaying/neutering, deworming, etc.) and includes their transportation up to New England. PAWS New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives. Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are located in Tennessee at our vet clinic's boarding facility or in foster care. If a dog is "local", that means he or she is at one of our foster homes in New England.

Please remember these are rescued dogs, not dogs coming from a breeder or behavior academy. They may have issues that can be worked with - we do our best to determine these ahead of time. Please do not expect them to be perfect. They are not, neither are we - that's why we love them so much!!!
