Meet Lisa

Lisa, born, born April 25, 2024, was part of an oops litter with Mom (French Bulldog) and Dad (American Bulldog) living in the same home (shown in the profile photos)

Lisa lived on a houseboat with her parents and brother, Bart, and the owners didn't take her off the boat, so proper housetraining along with socialization was lacking for her age.

Lisa is a great puppy and with an immense amount of environment exposure, socialization and fast tracking her with exposure to the world, she’s become a really confident dog and I’m so proud of her. She even got to hang out with Billie Eilish and her touring crew backstage at Scotiabank Arena before the concert for a few hours and did amazing!

She’s also hung out backstage with musical artist such as Kaytranada!! She wins hearts everywhere she goes with everyone she meets.

Lisa weighed in at 9 kg (20 pounds) August 16th and at her last vet appointment, October 10th, she weighed in at 29 pounds.

I can't confirm but presumably she'll be in the high 40 low 50 pound range as an adult dog. Lisa is tiny but she is mighty. She is a very solid gal.

She did break her tail at some point in her young life. It’s healed and doesn’t cause her any discomfort. She just has an obvious kink in the tail.

Lisa will need someone home with her mostly, for the remainder of the year, so she can get all the training dedication she'll need and not be home alone 8+ hours a day without structure or guidance in her most informative months of life.

The work you put into Lisa the next 6-8 months will dictate her future personality so be sure you are dedicated to the immense amount of work needed to raise a puppy.

Lisa is crate trained and doing well. She sleeps well crated in the bedroom at night. She did exhibit some separation anxiety but her foster Mom had been dedicated to building her confidence and she’s good for 3-4 hours on her own without concern. This could revert with adoption until she’s back on track, so keep that in mind when considering adoption.

She is great meeting people and dogs but like many bully breeds, she has a keen interest in really small dogs so she’s best to be in a home with equal sized dogs or be a solo dog.

Lisa has entered her fear puppy stage and can be very barky with specific kids. We're going to work on that behaviour with our rescue trainer the next few weeks but she's likely not suited for kids 13 and under living in the home. Visiting kids is fine.

Lisa will need a confident handler as an adopter. She will feel most confident herself being lead by a strong handler that has dog and breed experience.

Lisa is a really special girl most deserving of a great family dedicated to raising her right and giving her the most amazing life a dog could hope for!

PUPPY STAGES (AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB)

Welcome to Life With a Teenaged Dog: Six to Twelve Months:

Remember that adorable cuddly little puppy of just a few months ago? He’s a teenager now and things could get interesting. Dogs of this age start to test boundaries and many will try to assert themselves in the pack. They may challenge their humans and other pets in the household.

Pups at this stage need a great deal of stimulation and activity; their boredom threshold is about the same as a young teenager’s. You can expect some misbehaving and disobedience during this stage, as your pup reaches sexual maturity. Keep up the training and provide lots of opportunity for play and exercise.

Your puppy will become quite the explorer during this stage. Walks around the neighborhood become an adventure for him as he uses scent to learn about his environment; where other dogs live, the best spot to stop for a pee, the bushes where squirrels hide, and whose grass is the best for rolling around on. Combine teaching good leash manners with enough freedom for some neighborhood exploration.

FROM THE FOSTER:

I let Lisa out in the backyard at 7 am, and then every few hours. She doesn’t bark if she needs to go out, but she will look at you, or run around. Usually, the last pee at 10 pm and then off to bed.

Lisa loves to walk and can walk long amounts - 10 km at time

I usually feed her at 7 am and 5pm

Lisa sleeps well in her crate at night – I have it besides my bed. And I have stopped locking the crate at night – she will go there to sleep

Lisa also is ok in her crate in the daytime. ( I had one in the living room too) Often she will sleep when in her crate. She will whine in the beginning and then maybe a few times but will settle down.

Lisa can be barky when new people come into the house. After a few visits she will just be excited. Also barkey when people come up and down stairs.

Lisa loves to stare and run at squirrels – she can pull a lot on leash – but only when she sees a squirrel so more training over the winter will be great. I use the no pull harness on her – cause if she sees a squirrel she can pull a lot

Lisa can sit and come for me. I use my voice but also a hand signal (hand tapping
the ground for come). Great treats help too.

She does jump up when she sees someone she likes and has a heavy head – so just be careful with that. I make sure I have my hands free when I greet with her.

Lisa loves to cuddle with you on the couch – she will lick your face and ears and snuggle right besides you for hours.

She seems to enjoy water and the beach

Great with playing with other dogs – really good. Lisa plays well with all the dogs so far. Great with big dogs. Lisa weighs 30 pounds so I keep her away from tiny dogs. She is a heavy solid puppy.

She is great in the car – I have driven 4 hours with her – no problem

She is so wonderful and my family and friends are in love with her.
